Live Healthy Chicago Community Grant Round 2
Forty Acres Fresh Market; MAAFA Redemption Project; My Block, My Hood, My City (M3); Rush University Medical Center and West Side United have banded together to build the Live Healthy Chicago initiative to address the immediate wellness of seniors and high-risk populations in 20 target Black and Brown communities in Chicago experiencing COVID-19 health disparities and food insecurity.
Live Healthy Chicago is invested in dismantling the systemic racial and health inequities prevalent in these target communities by implementing, funding and sustaining immediate, long term and collective tactics.
Each of the Live Healthy Chicago partners has already put its resources and networks to work during this pandemic. The support of the Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation has made it possible to accelerate and scale up these efforts, and to equip those on the ground to respond to new needs that emerged as the crisis unfolded. Visit www.livehealthychi.com for more details.
To date, Live Healthy Chicago has distributed over $2 million to community-based nonprofits who are implementing highly effective COVID-19 strategies within 20 targeted black and brown neighborhoods. The Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation is providing the funding and we are opening up another round for community-based organizations. Applicants are encouraged to apply for between $10,000 and $50,000. Organizations that have previously received funding from Live Healthy Chicago are not eligible to apply again.
